The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to add “caps” and “stitches” above the highway. It will create dedicated spaces for pedestrians and cyclists to navigate the area safely.
West Sixth Street is getting a major makeover! Say goodbye to Clarksville because a new mixed-use development called Sixth&Blanco is coming. This two-acre project will feature five stories of retail shops, a bespoke hotel, and ten luxurious residences. Popular spots like Swedish Hill went on hiatus to make way for construction.

Nature lovers, rejoice! The second phase of Waterloo Greenway’s ambitious plan is underway. This project aims to transform Waller Creek into a beautiful 1.5-mile greenway through Downtown Austin. This phase focuses on the southernmost stretch, adding three pedestrian bridges, more walking paths, and plenty of new green spaces. The project will include planting over 1,550 new trees to create a lush green corridor for residents and visitors.
It’s time to bid farewell to the Frank Erwin Center. Crews carefully take down the nearly 50-year-old arena to make way for something new. It’s a hospital built in partnership with MD Anderson, the country’s leading cancer treatment center. This $2.5 billion project also includes a second hospital tower, further strengthening Austin’s booming Innovation District.
Get ready to see a revitalized Sixth Street! Stream Realty Partners, which owns a significant portion of the historic district, plans to restore and renovate several buildings. Expect refreshed architecture and a renewed energy along this popular entertainment strip.
